1970年羅素譴責以色列的政治聲明
巴勒斯坦人民的悲劇在于他們的國家是外國為另一個民族(人民)建立一個新的國家的“給予”。結果是成千上萬的無辜的人永久無家可歸。隨著每一個新的沖突他們(難民)的人數在增加。世界愿意忍受這樣的肆無忌憚的殘酷奇觀多久?這是非常清楚的，每個難民的家園的權利從他們被驅趕出來就被剝奪，而這種權利的剝奪就是沖突核心。世界上沒有任何地方的人民可以接受從他們自己的國家被大批驅逐，怎么能要求巴勒斯坦人民接受沒有任何人會容忍的處罰?難民在自己的家園一個永久的真正的定居，是任何真正解決中東地區問題的必不可少重要組成部分。我們經常說，我們必須與以色列的同情，因為歐洲猶太人在納粹之手里遭受了苦難。 [...]以色列今天的所作所為，而提及過去的恐怖為今天的行為作辯解是令人惡心的虛偽。

The tragedy of the people of Palestine is that their country was "given" by a foreign power to another people for the creation of a new state. The result was that many hundreds of thousands of innocent people were made permanently homeless. With every new conflict their numbers increased. How much longer is the world willing to endure this spectacle of wanton cruelty? It is abundantly clear that the refugees have every right to the homeland from which they were driven, and the denial of this right is at the heart of the continuing conflict. No people anywhere in the world would accept being expelled en masse from their own country; how can anyone require the people of Palestine to accept a punishment which nobody else would tolerate? A permanent just settlement of the refugees in their homeland is an essential ingredient of any genuine settlement in the Middle East. We are frequently told that we must sympathise with Israel because of the suffering of the
Jews in Europe at the hands of the Nazis. [...] What Israel is doing today cannot be condoned, and to invoke the horrors of the past to justify those of the present is gross hypocrisy.'
